Demon's Souls – One of the Hardest Video Game Ever!

Demon’s Souls is the incredibly popular cult video game by ‘From Software’ (and published by ‘Atlus’) where you play the role of an aspiring warrior who is thrust into the dark world of Boletaria.

Such is the popularity of the game that despite the fact it’s not been given a European release yet thousands of people have found ways to play it (such as importing it from China). June release has been planned for Europe, and an American release went ahead last November (almost a year after the Asian release).

Never before in history has an Asian-only video game caused such a stir in the Western world, but never before has a game like Demon’s Souls been released. Fans of the game have praised it for being a truly challenging game and many have called it the hardest game ever made. So what is it that makes Demon’s Souls so hard, and is it the hardest game ever?

One thing the game prides itself on is how realistically you character takes damage. By this I mean that one or two blows from any of the hundred enemies on a level and you’re done for. When combined with the fact that some levels can easily take longer than 30-40 minutes to beat, you have an extremely tough (and sometimes frustrating) combination.

The only way to ‘level up’ in this game is to collect the souls of your fallen enemies, but if you happen to die before you’ve finished the level (and killed the ultra-hard boss) than you lose all of those souls and you have to start again!

Demon’s Souls may well be the toughest video game ever – it’s certainly the hardest one I’ve ever played!
