I know this problem can be so annoying and frustrating because I was once in that position and paid loads of cash to technicians all in the name of repair or should I say fixing. Let me begin by telling you that you do not need to send your PSP for repair to anybody because you can definitely repair it by yourself. I will show you how this can be done.
Nowadays, fixing, repairing or replacing parts of a Sony PSP has been made easy with the help of detailed instructional guides. When you PSP joystick starts to break off, it is stuck or stops moving or it only moves in one direction, it might even be moving on its own, the you know there is a problem. Then what can you do? You need some basic tools that will help you solve these kinds of problems namely: new analog joystick for your slim PSP and some small screwdrivers, specifically Philips and flat heads. You can purchase this joystick from an online shop like Amazon and co. Now the job left is the knowledge of assembly. I will show you simple steps of assembling it.
The first thing you need do is to totally take off the faceplate from the Sony PSP (note: this makes your warranty of the product null and void). Doing this is not a big task as you might feel; it only takes a few steps. You Sony need to unscrew five screws (I assume you have a Phillips head screwdriver ready for that purpose) and place the removed screws in a safe place. Now, you do not need to take off the screen when you are taking out the stick. That done. Let`s go to step two.
The second step is to remove the analog stick from the Sony PSP; you do this by sliding it to your left. You might need to do a little bit of wiggling it so it can be removed (note that the contact that relates the joystick with its mother board comes in form of plastic and it is circled with green).
After you have done this, you then install the new joystick by just doing the reverse of what you did to remove it. Now you are done. It is that simple!
Can you now see how easy it is to fix your joystick all by yourself? You can save yourself a few quid’s and time by fixing it yourself order than sending it to a repairer or a technician.
