You need some basic tools that will help you solve these kinds of problems namely: new analog joystick for your slim PSP and some small screwdrivers, specifically Philips and flat heads. You can purchase this joystick from an online shop like Amazon and co. Now the job left is the knowledge of assembly. I will show you simple steps of assembling it.

The first thing you need do is to totally take off the faceplate from the Sony PSP (note: this makes your warranty of the product null and void). Doing this is not a big task as you might feel; it only takes a few steps. You Sony need to unscrew five screws (I assume you have a Phillips head screwdriver ready for that purpose) and place the removed screws in a safe place. Now, you do not need to take off the screen when you are taking out the stick. That done. Let`s go to step two.

The second step is to remove the analog stick from the Sony PSP; you do this by sliding it to your left.
