How Do I Work My American Wii in Dubai?

i'm living in dubai right now, and i brought my wii from the states, i bought an adapter that can take 100-240 V and has 50/60 hertz, but now my wii turns on for a bit then suddenly turns of… i have no idea bout wats goin on… plz help

Suggestion:

The adapter works best if it's made by nintendo. And also try checking if the AV cable (the one with the red, white and yellow plugs) and/or power cord is connected properly.
