Ps3 Slim Reviews – a New Playstation 3 Slim Review

So why go spring $299 for a new Sony Playstation 3 Slim? There are tons of PS3 Slim Reviews out there written by big companies, but none by regular people. So here’s mine. I’ve been a gamer for a long time and it’s no secret that in the console wars Sony, the former leader with the ever popular Playstation 2 has lagged behind in sales with their newest premium console, the Playstation 3. Although the PS3 has superior graphics and a Blu-Ray player to boot, many of us were not happy with the Playstation 3’s price tag. Thier single pricing issue is what made Sony effectively eliminate some kids and casual gamers from grabbing a PS# console last Christmas. Instead many of us were forced to opt for a $199 XbOX 360 or the Nintendo Wii. This gave Sony’s competition a head start to carve out a nice niche in the market with social gaming with Wii and more mature gaming with the 360.

Come August 24, 2009 (which is when Amazon has promised they will start shipping) despite the PS3 Slim Release Date being September 1, 2009. All of Sony’s issues may all be a thing of the past. Sony is now releasing a slicker and slimmer version of the Playstation 3 called the “PS3 Slim” and things are heating up already. Last week Amazon had to announce that they were limiting sales of the newly famous and supremely popular console to 1 per household. That’s always a good sign for the projected future sales of a system. Flashback to Christmas of last year when you had to pay double if you wanted a Wii in time for Christmas you were lucky to find it on eBay from a repuatable seller.

So what’s so great about this new console? First, without being able to ignore is the most significant aspect of the PS3 Slim is the price drop. Some may not think $100 drop in price is a lot, but to a buyer’s perception it certainly is. This brings a sleeker, slimmer Playstation 3 into that all-important “I can afford it with last week’s paycheck from my retail sales job” at $299. And if the price isn’t enough to persuade you to buy the new PS3 Slim check out that it has been improved all around with a 30% smaller console (which looks really cool next to a nice LCD). It’s also got Wi-Fi, 1080p HD support with an HDMI out and a built in browser so you can search the web. Not to mention a built-in 120G hard drive.
Since the recession has kept many people from taking the step from standard DVD to Blu-Ray this may also be a perfect opportunity for gamers who usually tend to be early adopters of technology such as Blu-Ray to finally get on the HD DVD bandwagon along with their new HD gaming with the Sony PS3 Slim.
