Suggestion:
North American Wii can only play games from US, Canada and Latin America.
Will Japanese Games Work on My American Wii?

They should play just fine, since it's from the same manufacturer, but you probably won't be able to change the language to English. Might be the same with the DS. My friend let me borrow an imported Bleach game and it worked fine on my USA DS.
As long as they are Nintendo Wii or DSi games that are certified by Nintendo they should work just fine. You may not be able to see them in English though.
