You ask "Which is the best" when what you should be asking is "Which system is right for me?" It depends ENTIRELY on your style of gaming, and what your personal favorite types of games are. All right, here's a breakdown.
Social aspect (# consoles sold):The XBOX 360 is arguably the most popular system (I do have a 360, but in all actually there have been more units sold than PS3 or Wii). The Wii lags behind, BUT has very different games, so one cannot compare the systems on this criteria alone.
Social aspect (online functionality): Both systems have some sort of online mall where you can buy digital games and play with other people. The Wii's online functionality is relatively limited, as almost everything is streamed, making it perhaps the least reliable for online play. (But its free.) XBOX Live is definitely the best social gaming connection between the three systems, plenty of servers for most games (not so much for older games, but its hosting system works better than that of the PS3's counterpart). The downside is that XBOX Live requires a subscription, $10/month or $60/year.
Graphics: The XBOX 360 has very good graphics, and although the actual hardware lags a few years behind the PlayStation 3, most console owners do not care about the difference because of the few games on the PS3 that take an effort to highlight said difference. What is visibly different are the graphics on the Wii, which is BY FAR the most obsolete in the sense of graphics. (This, however, once again has a unique "excuse" that largely negates this argument for the Wii being inferior to other systems.)
Game Variety: XBOX 360 and PlayStation 3 have very similar and diverse game varieties. First Person Shooter, Role Play Games, Racing, Sports,…the list is fairly comprehensive. The more popular games (more often than not) tend to have an element of violence. The Wii tends to specialize more cartoon-ish looking games, but that has not been a bad thing for it. While the Wii's graphics make its games not look as realistic as games on the 360 and PS3, the Wii is notorious for games exclusive to Nintendo: Mario games, Pokemon, and Sonic games are quite popular on it. The Wii, generally speaking, is more kid and family friendly than the 360 and PS3.
As I said before, it REALLY depends on what gameplay styles you value. Several of my friends have Wii, I just can't get myself to play it for more than an hour. If you like Zelda, Sonic and Mario games chances are you would prefer the Wii, to be honest. But personally games like HALO and Gears of War sold me on the XBOX 360.
Hope this helps!

i own an xbox 360 but not the wii and i think the xbox 360 is a great system but since i have not played the wii it could be just as good.the best thing to do is,see which one has the most games you would like to play and if your going to play online, which one are all your friends on.this should be the system for you.hope this helps.
xbox 360!!
xbox, because wii is all about family gaming and if your into shooting or well pretty much everything but family, there's not many out there, you only got a couiple of COD's and dead rising, but with xbox, you have all the COD's and all the dead rising, and there is also kinect so xbox is good with family.
Everybody else will tell u xbox
But i think the wii is the best!!!!
It depends on what you like. If you like Motion gaming, family fun gaming, and Nintendo games. Get a Wii. But if your into more serious gaming, I suggest getting a Xbox 360. It would be hard to play Skyrim on the Wii. And on a side note, Wii has bad graphics, I am not a graphics critic, but if you like graphics, get a Xbox 360.
