im 14 and i never had a 360 or ps3 till today when my uncle came to visit me and decided to buy me a ps3 120gb brand new.
all my life i usually had a xbox, ps2, nintendo 64, my newest things was the wii,
well my concern is that the ps3 looks so fragile so i don't want to brake it since it cost 320.00
too dawm expensive.
well i right now i'm connecting my ethernal cable to the ps3 to get internet in my ps3
so to use internet do i have to pay or something
what things in the ps3 arn't free for exemple (netflix 8.99 a moth to use it )
should i take the cd off before turning it off cuz the old ps2 i would leave it there for weeks.

what things would damage my ps3
and specially would my ps3 get viruses cuz right now my pc has a virus cuz i don't own an antivirus but when i connect the ethernal cable to my ps3 would it give it a virus and turn my ps3 crazy and if so how could i fix it
please tell me all the important things of the ps3 i'm reading the instructions but not quite get it yet

Suggestion:
You ask more than one question so let me try to answer all of them.
1. Your to young to get a internet subscription so you have to get either your mom or dad and go with them to your local data or electronics store and they must help you.
2. It much easier if I tell you about the things that are free bc the one that aren't free, well it would take up to much time. But anyway when you make a psn (playstation network) account you can get the free version, but if you get your parents to give you 50 $ you can get the playstation plus subscription. I haven't tried it but don`t plan on getting it anyway. And when you have that account you can go to the playstation store and download demos for free, which are like samples. And many other things.
3. Yeah it doesn't matter bc the disc will not melt the ps3 so you can have it in.
4. You have to make a psn account which is very simple bc you don't need to search for it, it will find you. I made one like 30 minuets after I got my ps3.
5. Here are some things that I wouldn't do, for instant don't leave it near the wall have at least 6 space so the heat doesn't easily bounce back. Secondly if you want to place it in a cabinet have the doors open when you game, but I would advice you not to put it in bc the door might slowly close and from there the heat will start to choke it. And last don't leave it in a vertical position I know you have seen it in tv but what people don't realize is that more heat will be reflected back to the ps3 causing it to overheat.
6. There is no virus for the ps3 bc its extremely hard to program anything on it, bc the ps3 doesn't have windows. It uses a proprietary operating system that is hard to crack. And even if people made a virus sony would issues and update and bam its gone. Like what they did with the jailbreak. So maybe its not impossible but good luck making one.
7. Listen don't try to be all nervous do it like me get the thing set it up and put in a game and enjoy it, bc one day when you get the ps4 the ps3 will be yesterdays news. Oh and don't forget to update when you get it unless it got the new firmware out of the box. Also you know that the ps3 slim got wifi, so you could connect it to your wifi. And one last thing before I wrap it up no the ps3 slim cannot play ps2 games, so I save you time so you don't need to put a question on if it can bc it can`t.

internet on the ps3 is free and any possible viruses you get either by hackers etc would make you freeze or something but it is harmless because when you turn your ps3 off and then play it again it would be fine again. i hope this helps. (by the way if you did get a virus or damage that wasn't your fault it should still be covered under warranty.)
You don't have to pay to play online at all. Once you connect it to your internet connection, you can sign up for the playstation network and set up a profile. Playstation Home is absolutely free if you want to try that. If you want Netflix, the PS3 is just another way of watching it. You can have netflix send you a free disc so you can stream movies from the internet. Don't let the ps3 run for too long but its not like an xbox 360 that will overheat and break down. I have heard of people having problems running burnt movies and stuff so probably best to stay away from those if you have any. Other than that its really simple. You'll have to update your firmware in order to play online so it should automatically tell you when you first connect that you need the update.If you are connecting your ps3 to your computer directly you may want to clear that virus but it shouldn't transfer to the ps3. Enjoy the best console on the market!
