Six Days And Seven Nights: Robin Monroe is on a romantic vacation on a tropical island with her fianc’. She agrees to mix a little business with pleasure by doing a story for the magazine she works for of a nearby island. She sets out with pilot Quinn Harris, but his plane has problems in bad weather, and they wind up marooned on an isolated island.
The Actress: The Actress is a recreation of Ruth Gordon’s youth. We watch her as a teenager as she struggles to become an actress, and a star. The film is set in the early 1900′s. Controller Jewison grants a dreamy travelogue of Italy photographed by Sven Nykvist, no less as her backdrop. Like numerous modern-day romantic comedies, this one invokes an earlier one Roman Holday to rationalize its presence. Cast includes Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey, Jr., Bonnie Seek, Joaquim De Almeida, Fisher Stevens, and Phyllis Newman. (108 minutes, 1994)
Rhythm Thief: Immediately fascinating and arrogant ultra low cost picture of a distant although afflicted Andrews, who lives on N.Y.C.’s dirty Lower East Side and makes his keep by marketing tapes of illicitly carbon copied music. The film is intriguing and seductive at times. It was filmed in 11 nights, for $ 11,000. Cast includes Jason Andrews, Eddie Daniels, Kevin Corrigan, Kimberly Flynn, Sean Hagerty, Mark Alfred, Christopher Cooke, and Bob McGrath. (99 minutes, 1995)
