Nutcracker the Motion Picture: Much of this rendition of The Nutcracker, acted by the Pacific Notthwest Ballet, is like a music video with rapid cutting and close-ups of legs, faces, and elbows. This is extremely irritating. However the Tchaikovsky music is, obviously, amazing, as are Maurice Sendak’s sets and costumes. Cast includes Hugh Bigney, Vanessa Acute” Patricia Barker, Plod Walthall, Russell Burnett, and the voice of Julie Harris. (89 minutes, 1986)
The Dinner Game: Humorous charade in regards to a self centered publisher who partakes in a monthly custom with his buddies to ask the stupidest individual they could find to supper. Lhermitte has discovered a doozy, a civil servant Villeret who interferes in his own life in incredible ways. The work is comically ludicrous without being nasty. Iron Eagle: This is a comic magazine film in regards to an eighteen-year-old who commandeers an F sixteen aircraft and soars to the Middle East (playing rock music on his WaIkman all the way) on a quest to recover his dad, who’s been taken hostage. Full of jingoistic superlatives, awkward morals, and individuals who die and miraculously return to life. Cast includes Louis Gossett, Jr., Jason Gedrick, David Suchet, Tim Thomerson, Larry G. Scott, Caroline Lagerfelt, and Jerry Levine. (119 minutes, 1986) .
The Front Page: First filming of the Hecht-MacArthur play is strainful, ludicrous, and flamboyantly prompted. This version stands up relatively well alongside the redo. Rocky 4: Entirely synthetic (and unessential) continuation has Rocky doin’ what a guy’s gotta do, avenging a buddy’s downfall and fighting for the U.S.A. against a superhuman Russian champ. Still, Stallone knows how to press all the right buttons, particularly in an awesome teaching montage.
