Danny Boy: Ambitious although arrogant, unrelentingly dull melodrama of sax player Rea, who trades his sax for a gun after observing a triple killing. This was Jordan’s directorial debut, which he additionally did the screenplay. He and leading guy Rea later reteamed for The Weeping Game. (92 minutes, 1982)
The Kingdom: The terrorism story is reinvented as an action film. It is a blood-pumping tale of an elite FBI team that voyages surreptitiously to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to examine a massive explosion at a U.S. living area. Cast includes Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Garner, Chris Cooper, Jason Bateman, Ashraf Barhom, Ali Suliman, Jeremy Piven, Danny Huston, Richard Jenkins, Frances Fisher, Anna Deavere Smith, and Tim McGraw. Jack Frost: A neglectful dad dies in an automobile mishap and comes to life one year later as a snowman in his child’s front yard! Nice, likable acting and an absence of violence make this an alright family film. However, it on no account conquers its quintessential issue, an extremely weird premise. Prophecy: Classical musician and her physician spouse quarrel over what appears to be gigantic salami in upstate Maine after mercury infecting turns animals into large mutants and worse. Red Sonja: SpectacuJarly stupid sword and magic myth with lady lead, based on mush writings of Robert E. Howard (of Conana popularity). May entertain adolescent watchers, although only point of interest for grownups is choosing who gives the worse acting job, Nielsen or villainess Bergman. Cast includes Brigitte Nielsen, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sandahl Bergman, Paul Smith, Emie Reyes, Jr., Ronald Lacey, and Pat Roach. (89 minutes, 1985)
The Fog: A thick haze from the Pacific hangs over a Northwest seaside village, bringing with it murderous and vengeful ghosts. Lame redo of John Carpenter’s 1980 film modifies the structure but does not improve on the first edition. Cast includes Tom Welling, Maggie Grace, Selma Blair, DeRay Davis, Kenneth Welsh, Adrian Hough, Sara Botsford, and Rade Sherbedgia. (100 minutes, 2005)
Believe in me: Still another 1970s film that all about drug problems. Working gal Bisset finds herself completely dependant on speed while living in the East Village section of New York City. Cast includes Michael Sarrazin, Jacqueline Bisset, Jon Cypher, Allen Garfield, and Kurt Dodenhoff. (90 minutes, 1971)
Alias Jesse James: One of Wish’s funniest has him an inusurance sales associate out West, incorrect for a sharpshooter. Fleming is a pleasant Western belle, and the 2 do a cute melody together. Cast includes Bob Wish, Rhonda Fleming, Wendell Corey, Jim Davis, and Gloria Talbott. (92 minutes, 1959)
