The Crush: Ludicrous thriller in reference to a twenty-something year old reporter Elwes who becomes the target of a pretty, compulsive fourteen-year-old Lolita Silverstone. The Great Muppet Caper: The Muppets try to solve a London gem robbery in their second film. Here we have smart gags and ideas plus humorous lyrical numbers with Miss Piggy make up for a slow moving script with more than its share of dull moments. Genealogies of a Crime: Deneuve is beaming in a twin role as the attorney for, and victim of, a strange youthful gentleman who’s implicated of killing his psychiatrist mother’s sibling after she supposedly subjected him to drastic mind-control therapy. Well-performed although conceited, deliberately perplexing blend of puzzle, satire, and surrealism; hoaxed up with pointless flashbacks within flashbacks and other narrative and graphic gimmicks. Cast includes Catherine Deneuve, Michel Piccoli, Melvil Poupaud, Andrzej Seweryn, and Bernadette LaFont. (114 minutes, 1997)
I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry: Larry and Chuck are top notch fire fighters and best friends. When Larry fails to change the beneficiaries on his life insurance policy after the unfortunate death of his wife, the only way he can make sure his children benefit if he dies is to remarry.
