The Little Thief: So-so personality picture of the title lass, a disassociated, amoral adolescent floating though life in postwar France. If she comes off as a girl Antoine Doinel, it’s since the original tale was co written by Francois Truffuut, who was allegedly preparing to film this at the time of his demise. Down to You: Prinze and Stiles futilely try to buddy us up by talking straight away into the camcorder, clarifying how their once idyllic college romance went bust (albeit not as bust as the film). In someway, this film manages to find room for subplots in reference to a Television show and a friend who has a try as an adult-film entrepreneur with a sort of bohemian knowledgeable porn actress. The Pawnbroker: This is a vital, preoccupying film. Steiger is phenomenal as Sol Nazerman, a Jewish pawnbroker in Harlem who lives in a protected environment with haunting rememberings of Nazi jail camps. Heart like a Wheel: Well-made although curiously uninspiring bio of race-car driver Shirley each other and much discussion is unintelligible to American ears (albeit if you might make it through the first reel, hang on).
