The Nutty Professor: Sherman Klump is a goofy chemistry professor who’s grossly obese. When he meets an attractive instructing assistant, he’s inspired to try his chemistry knowledge on DNA, reorganizing himself into a super stud. Eddie is appealing and persuading as the prof, and humorous as his doppelganger. Cast includes Eddie Murphy, Jada Pinkett, James Coburn, Dave Chappelle, Larry Miller, and John Ales. Inglorious Bastards: 5 cadets getting ready to be court-martialed in WW2 take off and try to make their wat through France, wishing to get to the Swiss border. Cast includes Ian Bannen, Bo Svenson, Fred Williamson, Peter Hooten, and Michael Pergolani. (100 minutes, 1978)
Sudden Death: Sarcastic mastermind Boothe keeps the Vice President captive in a secluded box throughout Stanley Cup hockey playoffs in Pittsburgh, requesting a few billion dollars, or he’ll blow up the entire stadium. However fire inspector Van Damme is on the job and Boothe has foolishly seized our idol’s baby girl. Cast includes Jean-Claude Van Darnme, Powers Boothe, Raymond J. Barry, Whittni Wright, Ross Malinger, Dorian Harewood, and Paul Mochnick. (110 minutes, 1995)
Protocal: In Protocal Goldie Hawn becomes an inadvertent heroine (and ovemight star) who’s satisfied with her do nothing government job. She eventually is used as a pawn for handling a Middle Eastern potentate. Cast includes Goldie Hawn, Chris Sarandon, Richard Romanus, Andre Gregory, Gail Strickland, Cliff De Youthful, Keith Szarabajka, Ed Begley, Jr., and James Staley. (96 minutes, 1984)
Patty Hearst: A dramatization of the newspaper heiress’s abduction and succeeding brainwashing by the Symbionese Liberation Army. The movie never recovers from a painful first half hour that tries to express, from Hearst’s point of view, the effects of this coordinated mental suffering she is put through. Cast includes Natasha Richardson, William Forsythe, Ving Rhames, Dana Delany, Frances Fisher, Jodi Long, and Olivia Barash. (108 minutes, 1988)
Danny Boy: Ambitious although arrogant, unrelentingly dull melodrama of sax player Rea, who trades his sax for a gun after observing a triple killing. This was Jordan’s directorial debut, which he additionally did the screenplay. He and leading guy Rea later reteamed for The Weeping Game. (92 minutes, 1982)
