Imagine this : you are controlling Mario’s fave go kart-style buggie, and you’re trailing at second place on the final lap. You’re increasing speed, and the person in pole position is in view. You know you’ll be able to overtake them on the next bend, as fast turn drifts are your skill. The bend approaches, you’re right at your rival’s tail. You increase the gas and reverse simultaneously. You twist the wheel and drift right past the enemy.
Such is the excitement that can be had in a multiplayer game of Mario Kart Wii. You will not be competing with the computer AI. You will be playing against live folk from varying regions of the planet. They’re living, breathing, cognitive players who will respond accordingly to the scenarios presented by each race. – Master the ‘rocket start.’ This is a crux of every Mario Kart game. Effectively performing the rocket start will give you an early advantage in the round.
