The Last Time: Nation bumpkin Ferder is moved to the N.Y. home outside of a business where sales exec. Keaton prides himself on his take-no-captives strategies. He mentors the ignorant newcomer and ends up in bed with his attractive spouse. There’s more going on than meets the eye albeit the setup is permanently evident. Little-group stuff, however Keaton is excellent. Cast includes Michael Keaton, Brendan Fraser, Amber Valletta, Daniel Stem, Neal McDonough, and William Ragsdale. (96 minutes, 2007)
I Love Trouble: Flippant puzzle with secluded-eye Tone courting Blair when looking for her missing sibling-in-ordinance. Cast includes Franchot Tone, Janet Blair, Janis Carter, Adele Jergens, and Glenda Farrell. (94 minutes, 1948)
Formula Fifty One: Crazy, tongue-in-cheek Hong Kong-fashion yam loaded with action and brutality. Jackson plays a pharmaceutical whiz that creates the final narcotic, then triple-crosses his L.A. connection Beef Loaf and soars to Liverpool to make a more profitable deal there. Mortimer is fun and a gun-toting, motorcycle-riding hit female. Cast includes Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Carlyle, Emily Mortimer, Rhys Mans, Meat Loaf, Sean Pertwee, Ricky Tomlinson, and Paul Barber. (91 minutes, 2001)
Ransom: Executive Tom Mullen has a problem. His son has just been kidnapped, and is being held for a huge ransom. Defying law enforcement advice, he comes up with his own plan for dealing with the kidnapper, and refuses to pay.
Hoosiers: This is a story about high school basketball in a small Indiana town that went on to greatness one year. The movie is based on the true story of a small town team that went all the way to win the state championship in 1954. A coach from out of town, and a former player at the school who is the town drunk, lead the team in this very inspirational film.
A Little Sex: This movie is essentially an R-rated Television-film, with Matheson wedding long-time girlftiend Capshaw wishing it can break him of his habit of chasing woman. Cast includes Tim Matheson, Kate Capshaw, Edward Herrmann, John Glover, Joan Copeland, Susanna Dalton, Wendie Malick, Wallace Shawn, Melinda Culea, and Bill Smitrovich. (95 minutes, 1982)
China Girl: Atmospheric romantic thriller in reference to warring Chinese and Italian youth cliques in N.Y.C., with Panebianco and Chang as megastar crossed lovers. Controller Ferrara grants astronomical effort and some over-the-top brutality. Cast includes Richard Panebianco, Sari Chang, David Caruso, and Russell Wong. (88 minutes, 1987)
The Barretts of Wimpole Street: Handsome, well-performed, and most amusing MGM production of classic romance between Elizabeth Barrett and Robert Browning in 19thcentury England. Controller Franklin redid this 2 years later. Cast includes Norma Shearer, Fredric March, Charles Laughton, and Ian Wolfe. (110 minutes, 1934)
Foxtrap: Low-spending limit action movie of Wil1iamson employed to bring absconder Owen back home from Europe to her clan. Little more than a style show by controller Williamson spotlighting his top choice performer. Cast includes Fred Williamson, Chris Connelly, Arlene Golonka, Donna Owen, Beatrice Palme, Cleo Sebastian, and Lela Rochon. (88 minutes, 1986)
