Liar Liar: Fletcher Reede is a hard working lawyer who is constantly disappointing his wonderful young son. Eventually, before blowing out the candles at his birthday, Max makes his wish. He wants his father to not be able to lie for one full day. The results are absolutely hilarious.
Black Legion: Plant employee Bogart, disheartened after losing a promotion to a colleague named “Dombrowski,” becomes engaged with a Ku Klux Klan type group. This commanding and still pertinent drama is well made. Cast includes Humphrey Bogart, Erin O’Brien-Moore, Dick Foran, Ann Sheridan, Joe Sauers (Sawyer), Helen Flint, Dickie Jones, and Henry Brandon. Deep Impact: With a comet on a collision course for Earth. A decision is made to send a space ship out to intercept the comet, and “seed” it with nuclear bombs. The explosion splits the comet in two, with the smaller part still heading toward Earth. With a devastating impact looming, it is learned that 1 million Americans will be chosen by lottery to go underground into a network of caves built to survive the impact, and the following sequence of disasters.
Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade: The Nazis are still looking for religious artifacts. Now they are hunting for the Holy Grail. Indiana’s father has gone missing in Europe. He was also seeking the Grail. Now on a desperate search, Indiana tries to find his father, and the Grail.
Dodgeball, A True Underdog Story: Peter is the proud owner of Average Joe’s gym. His luck is running low and White Goodman, owner of gym franchise Globo Gym, wants to get the gym from Peter. Things culminate in a dodge ball competition in which Average Joe’s team must win for Peter to keep his beloved gym.
Copycat: Helen Hudson is being asked out of retirement to investigate a baffling set of murders. Hudson is a forensic psychologist specialized in serial killers. With detective M.J. Monahan, the two start to uncover the mystery. When the killer learns the two are tracking him, they become his next target.
Spungen: Director Cox accomplishes a masterful level of a documentary-reality. He then laces it with metaphorical fantasy icons, with striking outcomes. At the center of the film are two incredible performances by Goldman and Webb, who don’t appear to be acting at all: They are Sid and Nancy. The movie is a downer, to be certain, however captivating. (105 minutes, 1969)
Alien 3: Ellen Ripley and her surviving friends are flying through space after battling the Aliens. They crash land on a desolate planet that has a prison colony as the inhabitants. Unfortunately, an alien has stowed away on the ship, and is now loose on this new world.
