Sonic Rivals 2 – a Multiplayer Bonanza

The playable characters in Sonic Rivals 2 include Sonic the Hedgehog, Tails, Knuckles the Echidna, Rouge the Bat. Shadow the hedgehog, Metal Sonic, Silver the Hedgehog and Espio the Chameleon. Sonic the Hedgehog is fastest hedgehog around the globe. In this game, Sonic and his partner, Tails went to probe on the Chao. Tails is responsible of helping Sonic the search for the Chao which is lost. Knuckles, the Echidna who is the master of the 7 emeralds works with Rouge to search for the missing Chao. Rouge the Bat is a spy employed by the government. Rouge wants the jewels for his personal gain. Shadow the Hedgehog is also known as the Ultimate Life Form. Shadow teams up with metal Sonic to prevent Eggman from implementing the Nega plan. Metal Sonic is a ghost of Sonic’s Robot whom Eggman hired to work with Shadow. Silver the Hedgehog who came from the future partner along with Espio to save Chao. Espio and Silver work together to probe on the missing Chao.

There are 4 single player modes in Sonic Rivals 2. The main single player mode is a game in story mode. In order to proceed to the plot, you must complete the game battle mode. There are 3 acts in each zone. Each zone has its own boss. The first and third acts are races whereas the second act is a battle. The races are integrated into the story mode. Some of the stages can be skipped based on the chosen character.

The characters are groups into four teams including Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails, Shadow Sonic and Metal Sonic, Silver and Espio and Knuckles the red Echidna and Rouge the bat. Sonic Rivals 2 have a Free Play mode which allows players to choose any 8 characters and play in the 2D game mode. Players can also choose Time Attacking in the levels. The first mode doesn’t have any enemies to fight. In the Cup Circuit and Single Event modes, players obtain the cards by finishing the races and battle. There are more than 150 cards that you can collect throughout the game. Each card is rewarded with a specific achievement. The Mephiles the Dark card is obtained when you achieve a S-Rank in Knockout Mode. The cards can be used to unlock a suit. In addition, the card can be used to unlock Cup Circuits and Chao Detectors. The Battle Mode consists of 6 racing competition. The length time of the race can be configured through the selection menus. In the Knockout mode, the player will begin with 3 rings. In order to win the game, the players must knock all the rings from their rivals and then make an assault on them to win the game. In the Rings Battle, players are required to accumulate as many rings as possible within a set period. The player that collect the most rings will be declared as the winner. In Capture the Chao, the players are required to obtain the specified number of Chao from their enemy’s camp and return them to their own Chao in order to win. In the Laps Race, players are required to finish a specified number of laps to win the game.
