Top 10 Best Snes Games Ever

There are so many great games for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It is difficult to narrow down a list to the top 10 best SNES games ever created. There are many games that could have, or should have, made this list. Here are some of the best SNES games of all-time.

10 – Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting – This game probably made it to number one on any best SNES games list that was created by someone who loves fighting games. It is arguably the best fighting game for the SNES. With the addition of the Super Turbo feature, this game took the Street Fighter series to a whole new level.

9 – EarthBound – Also known as Mother 2: Gyiyg Strikes Back, EarthBound was a role-playing video game for the SNES. The game was a great success in Japan and is considered by critics to be one of the greatest RPGs on the SNES, as well as one of the best RPGs of the 1990s.

8 – Final Fantasy II – This game was initially only released in Japan, but has since been ported to numerous other platforms. The success of the game was not only due to the success of the Final Fantasy series, but also due to the introduction of many of the features that would later become staples in the game series.

7 – Mega Man X – This game was the second series for the Mega Man franchise and debuted on the SNES. It was intended to give a new image for the Mega Man series and it did. The game spawned over half a dozen follow-up games as well as another series, Megan Man Xtreme, and a spin-off series, Mega Max X: Command Mission.

6 – Chrono Trigger – This console role-playing game has been called the number one of game of all-time on many people’s top SNES lists. The development team for Chrono Trigger included three designers that were dubbed by Square as the “Dream Team”. The game definitely lived up to expectations and was a critical and commercial success.

5 – Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars – This was the first console role-playing game in the Mario series. It is often compared to other RPGs near that time such as Chrono Trigger and the Final Fantasy series. Its success has mirrored the success of both of those games as well.

4 – Super Mario World – The best platform game ever created for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The Super Mario series just happens to also be the most popular platform game series ever created. The game has been released multiple times and multiple platforms and sold millions of copies.

3 – Final Fantasy III – The first of the Final Fantasy games to feature the job-change system. This, and other revolutionary developments, has made FFIII stand out as one of the best, if not the best, game in a series of great games. It still continually makes many reviewer lists as one of the best games ever.

2 – Super Metroid – Although the Metroid series did not originally reach the commercial success that some of its counterparts did, Super Metroid was given near-universal acclaim upon release. It is considered by many to be one of the best, if not the best, 2d action adventure game ever.

1 – The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past – One of the best games, in one of the best series, with some of the best characters ever created. A Link to the Past is the ultimate game that defined the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It was uniquely Nintendo, yet also very portable to all types of fans. The game has sold millions of copies and won almost every award a game can win.

That is it. That was one author’s submission for the top 10 best SNES games ever. The list, like all top 10, top 25, or top 100 lists is completely subjective to the preferences of the author.
