no, not necessarily. The more candles you have (or, the more Infrared light sources you have) the more interference/confusion you cause. The wiimote only needs a few points of reference to understand where it is in relation to the TV.

Really, the STRONGER the candle (or other IR source) the better. not necessarily more.

I think 4 candles will work fine – the wireless sensor bar I have now has 2 IR lights on each side in fact. But don't think that you can just line the sides of your TV with candles and have a better reception, haha. :)

Two candles is all you need. Make sure to space them apart equally.

Better yet, just use the Wii Sensor bar. It is far more safer than candles, as the candles can be knocked over and start a fire.
